Hey, everyone, and welcome!
If you’ve followed along with me prior to this blog, you probably already know that I have a large family of twelve, busy people (hence the name, ‘Home by 12.’)
I’m a domestic engineer who started a business in the home decor niche. Alongside that, I’m a homeschooling mom of, let’s see, (I’m actually counting) seven. And one of my super seven is a five year old with Down Syndrome who keeps us all on our toes.
Life is busy, but if you follow along, you’ll see that our life is never boring.
My Instagram stories have given a little bit of a peek into my family, mostly my stair step children with ages ranging from 4 to 23. But my feed is filled with a lot more of the home decor and food we create.
Most people think I’m crazy for having a family this big, but I assure you that I’m not. Yes, it’s a lot of work, and I sometimes want to run screaming down the street, barefoot and tugging on my hair. But the reality is I’d look completely crazy to my neighbors, so that’s not really an option.
My husband’s and my decision to have so many children was not something that some of our family members agreed with. My children don’t have grandparent hugs and kisses swarming them from the grandparents who just can’t stay away. Heck, they haven’t even seen two of their grandparents in SEVEN years (meaning that their grandparents have never met a couple of them).
So, it’s just us.
As Will Smith and Martin Lawrence said in Bad Boys II, “Ride together. Die together.”
And since we’ve had to create our own sense of family support, life, and love, I don’t care who has a problem with the number of children I have. Sure, we’ve struggled, but we also love deep. And that’s what makes Home by 12 a little different from anything else you’ll read.
So if your life is perfect and your home looks like some kind of model showcase home, and if you’re life is in perfect harmony with, well, everything, this is NOT the blog for you.
But if you’re looking for a place for encouragement through imperfection, real life, ideas, how tos, and just love, I invite you to join me as I share with you my
Home By 12.
Family pics are coming soon. It’s hard to get us all in the same place at the same time these days. 🙂
Also, out of fairness. My kids do have a really cool great grandmother who smothers them with kisses, chats with them, and even comes to visit to enjoy special time with them. That’s worth more than I can express.
